Purpose and Principles
The purpose of the Order of the arrow:
“In a great and honored Order, into which can be admitted only those who unselfishly desire to serve others, there must be lofty purpose. You were selected for membership in the Order because your fellow Scouts saw your sincerity and acceptance of the high ideals of the Scout Oath and Law”. - Meteu
To recognize those campers – Scouts and Scouters – who best exemplify
the Scout Oath and Law in their daily lives and by such recognition cause
other campers to conduct themselves in such manner as to warrant
recognition.
To develop and maintain camping traditions and spirit.
To promote Scout camping, which relates its greatest effectiveness as part
of the unit’s camping program, and to help strengthen the district and council
camping program both year-round and in summer camp, as directed by the
Council’s Camping Committee.
To crystallize the Scout habit of helpfulness into a life purpose of leadership
in cheerful service to others.
The three principles of the Order of the Arrow are:
Brotherhood, Cheerfulness, and Service
